Transcranial Magenetic Stimulation for the Treatment of Major Depressive Disorder in a Severely Treatment Resistant Population

Oakdale TMS in New York retrospectively analyzed PHQ-9 scores from 44 patients and found that 56% of their patients responded to TMS while 35% remitted. Response was defined as a score reduction of at least 50%. Remission was defined as scores of <5 on the PHQ-9. All 44 patients were considered to have severe depression and on average had failed at least 10 medications prior to rTMS.
