Summaries from the Clinical TMS Society Meeting in NYC 2014

Efficacy Comparison of Neurostar TMS and Antidepressant Medications in the Treatment of Pharmacoresistant Major Depression.

Recent multisite clinical trials of rTMS have showed a significant reduction in depression scores upon completion of rTMS treatment. This large scale study involved 360 patients and resulted in 53% of the patients achieving a QIDS-SR score of less than 10 at the end of 6 weeks of rTMS. Only 38% of the patients from the Sequenced Treatment Alternatives to Relieve Depression (STAR*D) study, which was published in 2006, achieved QIDS-SR scores of less than 10.

Clinicaltrials.gov, listing number NCT 01114477
